Moving back to Washington just in time for summer has proven to be a solid decision. These past few weeks of 75 degree days have been just what I’d been craving during our time in Indonesia. We’ve taken advantage of the pleasant temperatures with lots of dining al fresco and strolls on the beach. But our best outdoor activity thus far has been our days we’ve spent crabbing. My husband Joel grew up coming to the beaches in northwestern Washington so he’s an old hand at this crabbing thing. But the experience was new to me and I learned a lot after a couple of trips out. Here’s what I’ve picked up so far.

The time has come for Joel and I to triumphantly return to Washington after two years living abroad. I’ve already listed all the things I’ll be missing about life in Indonesia, so I thought it only fitting to do little round up of what aspects of life in the US that I’m most looking forward to.

If my New Years resolution was to get severely ill, then I can say with resounding conviction “I DID IT!” All kidding aside, I had an amazing start to 2017 with my family in Washington. It wasn’t until this third week of January that things went downhill. I’ve spent most of the week glued to my bed with the exception of a couple of excursions to the doctor. But today I started to feel like I’m on the mend and got a little photo editing done. Please forgive my lack of comments, I don’t have it in me to be witty so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Whoa the holidays went by fast! We spent an amazing three weeks in Washington with Joel’s family and also a little visit from my parents. It was exactly what I needed after a whirlwind year that included a month long wedding extravaganza and tons and tons of travel. We finished 2016 sitting by a fire watching watching an icy storm rage outside while we ate tortellini soup. Pretty much perfect in my opinion.
We’re just getting back to Indonesia and settling into daily life again. I’ll have pictures to share as soon as I can finish unpacking, doing laundry, prepping for work and mopping the kitchen floor. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!
